Course Description

These courses have a pre-requisite of Introduction to Small Animal Laparoscopy within 2 years.

Your practice is on the cutting edge, and you prefer to lead rather than follow.  You’re looking for that edge that distinguishes your practice from the others…we get you and we’ve got just what you’re looking for!  Laparoscopic ovariectomy is rapidly becoming the state-of-the-art method for sterilization of female dogs and cats and it is a procedure that will cement your relationship with discerning pet lovers starting early in their pet’s life!

We’ve customed-designed a laparoscopic ovariectomy training course like no other available anywhere!  You’ll start with a brief, practical and engaging lecture / discussion that will give you an overview of important principles and the techniques you’ll soon be performing. Next, you’ll step into our state-of-the-art Minimally Invasive Surgery Laboratory at CSU’s brand-new Translational Medicine Institute. There, you’ll develop your skills on a trainer/simulator that will prepare you to perform your first Lap OV technique in a canine cadaver. You can feel your skills and confidence building, but wouldn’t it be nice if you could do a clinical case or 2 with your mentor by your side?  That is EXACTLY what is about to happen!  We’ve partnered with area animal shelters to provide them with no-cost laparoscopic ovariectomies for their future adoptees and you’ll perform the procedures with your instructor scrubbed in and helping you out every step of the way!  Each participant will operate on 2 dogs.  While others are performing their procedures you can view every detail from the comfort of your seat thanks to our advanced AV technologies throughout the facility.

You’ll return to your practice prepared and motivated to provide this cutting-edge technique to your community of pet lovers!
