Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery for the Small Animal Surgeon

Plastic and reconstructive surgery has evolved into a critically important discipline in small animal medicine. Problematic wounds commonly arise from trauma or surgical defects secondary to tumor removal. This intensive 2-day course is designed for veterinarians with a strong interest in surgery who operate in private practice or at a university setting. Techniques will focus on the simple and more complex reconstructive procedures for wounds involving the head (face, mouth, pinna), trunk (skin, thoracic, and abdominal walls), and extremities (skin loss, pad reconstruction). Lecture sessions are followed by hands-on training in our lab where you’ll have time to practice the discussed techniques on cadavers. Our instructors will provide one-on-one assistance to maximize your time in our classroom and lab at CSU’s Translational Medicine Institute.
