Congenital Heart Interventions

This is a two-day course that aims to provide the audience a thorough review of catheter-based therapies for heart disease in animals with congenital heart disease. The course is composed of alternating lectures and laboratories utilizing high fidelity simulators (ANGIOMENTOR), 3D printed heart models, and recorded cases. Topics include equipment and vascular access in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, basic and advanced techniques for occlusion of the patent arterial duct, balloon dilation and stenting therapies for stenotic valves and cor triatriatum, and closure of septal defects. This course is appropriate for cardiologists-in-training or practitionerswho wish to improve their understanding of and technical abilities in cardiac catheterization.Lectures and laboratories are taught by veterinary cardiologists with fellowship training in interventional cardiology.
