Course Description
Do you dread the management of open traumatic wounds? Do you secretly fear that you’ll never get the wound closed when you are excising a mass? Do you wonder if there are wound dressings that could make life easier for you, your staff, your clients, and your patients?
If you answered YES to any of those questions, we’ve got the perfect new CE course for you! In this course you’ll enjoy 5.25 hours of online learning at your own pace and in your own place as you prepare for your immersive in-person/hands-on training experience. In this course, you will learn:
- How to properly perform urgent care first aid for traumatic wounds to shorten their overall healing time and maximize their chance of success
- To recognize the sequential stages of wound healing and to determine the most appropriate contact layer dressing for each stage
- When it is appropriate to close a traumatic wound and how to decide
- To properly use and manage wound drains
- How to determine appropriate margins for skin mass removals
- How to use tension relieving techniques, local flaps, axial pattern flaps, or skin grafts when needed for wound closure
You’ll return to your practice equipped and confident in your ability to handle that next traumatic wound or skin mass excision.
You are welcome (though not required) to bring one of your vet technicians with you to this course. Register your veterinary technician here.
