Life is too short and dental disease is too prevalent not to enjoy small animal dentistry. If you’re looking to develop comfort, efficiency and skills in performing common dental procedures, this is the course for you!
In this specially designed 2-day course, you’ll enjoy 6 hours of engaging and practical lecture / discussion amongst 10 hours of valuable hands-on training. You’ll devote your first day of training to the oral exam, regional anesthesia, radiograph acquisition, interpretation, and treatment planning. After the first day, you will be able to complete a comprehensive oral exam, understanding clues present in the oral exam that will aid in your treatment planning. You will also review critical periodontal equipment and how to perform basic periodontal treatments such as ultrasonic and hand supragingival scaling, closed and open root planing, and appropriate use of perioceutics. If that weren’t enough, you’ll also learn about local and regional anesthesia, including infraorbital, inferior alveolar and mental nerve blocks and their administration.
Finally, you’ll also learn and practice radiograph acquisition and interpretation. You’ll have learned to obtain full mouth radiographs of the dog and interpret common normal variations and periodontal pathology. Whew!
Your day 2 training will be devoted to dental extractions. Tips to improve extraction techniques will be discussed and practiced, and common complications will be discussed.
