Course Description

 

Laparoscopy is a team sport and your support of the cutting-edge medical technique is essential to its success in your practice. In this course, you’ll participate in some of the veterinarian’s lectures and labs, but you’ll also enjoy special “technicians only” breakout sessions where you’ll learn from the best of the best when it comes to instrumentation, room set up, the technician’s role in endoscopy and a special group discussion of your challenges and concerns. 

Open to technicians to attend with a veterinarian from their practice (1 technician per veterinarian)

Dr. Eric Monnet graduated from veterinary school in Maisons Alfort, France in 1985.  He worked for four years in a Paris private practice performing small animal medicine and surgery.  In 1994, Dr. Monnet completed a small animal surgery residency at Colorado State University and concurrently finished a Master of Sciences degree.  In 1997, Dr. Monnet received his PhD in Clinical Sciences studying cardiac efficiency in dogs. In 2003, he became a fellow of the American Heart Association.  In 2017, he became a founding fellow the ACVS MIS Small Animal fellowship. Dr. Monnet is currently a professor in small animal surgery (General Surgery at Colorado State University.  He has authored more than 100 articles and 25 chapters in various surgical textbooks.  Dr. Monnet was the founding president in 2001-2003 of the Society for Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery and in 2002-2004 of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society.  He is the editor of the textbook: “Disease Mechanisms in Small Animal Surgery” (3rd edition).  He is also the editor of the textbook “Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery” (1st edition), the textbook “Small Animal Thoracic Surgery” (2nd edition), and the textbook “Gastrointestinal Surgical Techniques” (1st edition).
Sarah Marvel

Dr. Sarah Marvel

MS, DVM, DACVS-SA, ACVS Fellow, Surgical Oncology ACVS Fellow, Minimally Invasive Surgery (Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery), Assistant Professor, Small Animal Surgery

Dr. Marvel received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and then went on to obtain her DVM from the University of Wisconsin in 2009.  She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Colorado State University.  She stayed at Colorado State University and completed a residency in small animal surgery in 2013.  Following her surgical residency she completed a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University.  She achieved board certification from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS-SA) in 2014. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the General Surgery department at Colorado State University.

Participant Cancellation Policy: Course attendees can cancel their registration for an in-person course according to the following

  • Cancellation more than 60 days prior: Full refund minus 10% processing fee or 100% Future Transfer Credit (FTC).
  • Cancellation 30-60 days prior: 50% refund or 75% FTC.
  • Cancellations within 30 days: 50% FTC only. Cancellations due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Future Transfer Credits can be applied to any course within 365 days of the cancelled course.

Course Cancellation Policy: Course cancellations due to low registration numbers or other circumstances may be announced 35 days or more prior to the course. Full refund of the course registration or 100% Future Transfer Credit (FTC) will apply. We are unable to reimburse for travel expenses incurred.
