Small Animal Dental Extraction Intensive - Feline (Hybrid Course)

Course includes a custom, instructor-curated dental instrument set including those specific to feline extractions  (retail value = $1,000)

This one-day feline extraction intensive is custom designed for practitioners who are already performing dentistry in their practices, have attended dental CE and are questing more training and honing of skills on more challenging extractions in a low pressure, supervised setting.  

There are 3 hours of lecture with CE questions to be completed by trainee at home prior to arrival. Quizzes on the lecture material must be submitted before the in-person training course.  

Pre-Lab Lectures 

1. It’s all in the flap: The steps of a complete extraction in a cat  
   • Learning objectives: 
     • Recognize dental anatomy critical to planning extractions 
     • Recognize the steps of a surgical extraction 
     • Given a case presentation, create a flap design 
2. Choosing and maintaining equipment specific to feline extractions to help make extractions easier
   • Learning Objectives: 
     • Recognize the equipment used in each step of a surgical extraction 
     • Recognize basic maintenance that is required to keep the equipment working it’s best
3. Beyond the Basics—Hints for more challenging extractions & retrieving retained tooth roots 
   • Learning objective: 
     • Recognize the steps to retrieving retained tooth roots 
     • Evaluate approaches to extractions of teeth that often cause problems in cats: mandibular canines, mandibular 1st molars and maxillary 4th premolars and 1st molars
