Course Description

Though you’ve grown more comfortable and experienced with soft tissue surgery, you do your best to refer your common head & neck patients (brachycephalic syndrome, salivary mucocele, chronic otitis, etc.) to a surgeon … but some airway conditions require you to act now. And for those nagging chronic conditions, you don’t love that feeling of watching your patients fail to thrive when referral isn’t available to your valued client. You’re not alone. This course is designed to provide you, your clients, and your patients with some great solutions!

In this course, you’ll enjoy nearly 4 hours of pre-course online learning at your own pace and in your own place to prepare you for your intensive in-person/hands-on learning. You’ll learn important anesthetic management tips and surgical treatments for:

Salivary mucocele
Brachycephalic airway syndrome
Emergency upper airway obstruction
Otitis media including early intervention options to avoid a total ear canal ablation

Access to this course will expire one year (365 days) from the course’s end date. After this period, users will no longer have access to course materials, resources, and any associated content. Dr. Eric Monnet

DVM, PhD, DACVS, DECVS

Dr. Eric Monnet graduated from veterinary school in Maisons Alfort, France in 1985. He worked for four years in a Paris private practice performing small animal medicine and surgery. In 1994, Dr. Monnet completed a small animal surgery residency at Colorado State University and concurrently finished a Master of Sciences degree. In 1997, Dr. Monnet received his PhD in Clinical Sciences studying cardiac efficiency in dogs. In 2003, he became a fellow of the American Heart Association. In 2017, he became a founding fellow the ACVS MIS Small Animal fellowship. Dr. Monnet is currently a professor in small animal surgery (General Surgery at Colorado State University. He has authored more than 100 articles and 25 chapters in various surgical textbooks. Dr. Monnet was the founding president in 2001-2003 of the Society for Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery and in 2002-2004 of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society. He is the editor of the textbook: “Disease Mechanisms in Small Animal Surgery” (3^rdedition). He is also the editor of the textbook “Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery” (1^stedition), the textbook “Small Animal Thoracic Surgery” (2nd edition), and the textbook “Gastrointestinal Surgical Techniques” (1st edition).

Dr. Naomi Hoyer

DVM, DAVDC

Naomi Hoyer is an Assistant Professor of Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University. She graduated from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2002. She worked in general practice for 10 years before starting her dental residency in private practice. She became an AVDC Diplomate in 2017. She left private practice in 2018 to pursue her passion for dentistry education. She hopes to share her love of dentistry with as many students and practitioners as possible. Her professional interests include management of periodontal disease and developmental maxillofacial disease.

Dr. Pedro Boscan

DVM degree obtained in 1996 at the veterinary school from Venezuela. After a small animal anesthesia internship at Utrecht University, Netherlands; I did a neuroscience MSc at University of Andalucia (Spain) with strong emphasis in pain processing. Obtained a PhD from University of Bristol, UK working on CNS integration of pain, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Veterinary anesthesia residency at UC Davis. Clinical fellow in anesthesia and critical care at UC Davis for one year. Anesthesia faculty at CSU for 18 years. Currently professor of anesthesia and service chief at CSU.

Participant Cancellation Policy: Course attendees can cancel their registration for an in-person course according to the following

Cancellation more than 60 days prior: Full refund or 100% Future Transfer Credit (FTC).
Cancellation 30-60 days prior: 50% refund or 75% FTC.
Cancellations within 30 days: 50% FTC only. Cancellations due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances will be considered on an individual basis.
Future Transfer Credits can be applied to any course within 365 days of the cancelled course.

Course Cancellation Policy: Course cancellations due to low registration numbers or other circumstances may be announced 35 days or more prior to the course. Full refund of the course registration or 100% Future Transfer Credit (FTC) will apply. We are unable to reimburse for travel expenses incurred.
