This two-day introductory GI endoscopy course is specifically designed for the inspired veterinary learner with little / no endoscopic experience.  You will enjoy 7 hours of practical and engaging lecture / discussion covering indications, basic technique, and disorders diagnosed via endoscopy interspersed amongst 9+ hours of valuable hands-on training in the state-of-the-future Endoscopy Training Center of CSU’s Translational Medicine Institute!   

On Day 1, you will use fresh cadavers to learn basic endoscopic manipulation, biopsy techniques, foreign body removal, and PEG tube placement.  On Day 2, you perfect your basic upper endoscopy skills in live dogs.   A delicious breakfast, lunch and break refreshments are included in the registration. 

Following this course, you’ll be motivated and prepared to perform GI endoscopic procedures in your practice.  

**Veterinary Technicians must accompany a veterinarian from their practice (1 technician per veterinarian)**

Dr. David Twedt

DVM, DACVIM

Dr. David C. Twedt graduated from Iowa State University and entered an internship and medicine residency in gastroenterology at The Animal Medical Center in New York City.  Dr. Twedt then joined the staff of the Animal Medical Center and was also a research associate at the Liver Research Center of Albert Einstein Medical School.  Dr. Twedt then joined the faculty in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University in small animal internal medicine.  He is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Twedt is past President of the ACVIM and Comparative Gastroenterology Society and co-founder of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society. Publication and research interests include liver disease, gastrointestinal disease and endoscopy.  He has also been the recipient of a number of teaching. research and national awards including the Norden-Pfizer Distinguished Teacher Award, WSAVA International Scientific Achievement Award, Pioneer in Endoscopy Award and ACVIM Robert W. Kirk Award for Professional Excellence. He is also the co-editor of 4 textbooks including Current Veterinary Therapy 14 and 15 editions.

Dr. Michael Leib

DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Leib graduated from the University of Georgia and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Colorado State University.  He then served on the faculty at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech where he was C.R. Roberts Professor of Small Animal Medicine until retiring in 2017.  He is now Emeritus Professor and Diplomate of ACVIM.  Dr. Leib’s clinical and research interests are in gastroenterology and endoscopy.  He as published extensively and has lectured Nationally and Internationally.  Dr. Leib is also the recipient of many teaching awards.
Craig Webb

Dr. Craig Webb

DVM, DACVIM

After completing his PhD in Neuroscience, Dr. Webb earned his DVM from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Webb did his internship at Alameda East in Denver where he experienced his 15 minutes of fame on Animal Planets “Emergency Vets” TV show. Dr. Webb was a resident at CSU with Dr. David Twedt as his mentor, and has remained on faculty at the VTH ever since.

Dr. Sarah Shropshire

DVM, PhD,DACVIM

Dr. Sarah Shropshire completed her internship at the University of Georgia followed by her residency and PhD at Colorado State University.  She is currently an assistant professor and serves as faculty at CSU.
