Course Description
You learned long ago that not all of your clients are willing/able to accept a referral to a specialist for fracture repair and you grew tired of amputating limbs (or worse). Along the way, you took a basic fracture management / plating course and you’ve saved your share of limbs (and lives) as you’ve become comfortable with treatment of many routine diaphyseal fractures.
… but you’ve also come to realize that not all fractures are diaphyseal long bone fractures and now you’re ready for the NEXT LEVEL. We knew you’d be back … and we’ve got the perfect training course for you!
In this specially-designed blended (online + hands-on) course, you will learn to address those challenges associated with some articular fractures, juxta-articular fractures and fractures of the pelvis.
After this course, you’ll return to your practice ready to tackle some of those not-so-routine fracture cases and your clients will be glad you got this training!
Learning Objectives
Following successful completion of this course, you will be able to…
- Successfully plan, execute and critique your surgical stabilization of complex fractures of the distal femoral physis, supracondylar distal femur, pelvis and lateral humeral condyle.
- Describe how to perform autogenous cancellous bone grafting
- Describe strategies to reduce the incidence of orthopedic surgical site infections
- Diagnose and manage complications such as non-union vs. delayed union
**Open to technicians to attend with a veterinarian from their practice (1 technician per 1 veterinarian)**
