Are you comfortable with small animal surgical techniques, but when that enucleation case comes along you feel a bit unsure? You are not alone! Enroll in this online course to review the indications for performing a small animal enucleation, the two main enucleation techniques, common complications, and post-operative care. This course will provide videos of performing both subconjunctival and transpalpebral enucleation techniques along with advice and tips for each step along the way. It will walk you through everything from shaving and sterile preparation to retrobulbar blocks and post-operative treatment. After completing this course, you will feel ready to take on small animal enucleations!

Access to this course will expire one year (365 days) from the course’s end date. After this period, users will no longer have access to course materials, resources, and any associated content. It is the responsibility of the users to complete the course and download any materials including their course completion certificate.

Dr. Martabano developed an interest in Veterinary Ophthalmology as a student at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine from where she earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She completed a small animal rotating internship at North Carolina State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2017, an ophthalmology internship at Colorado State University (CSU) in 2018. Martabano will complete her ophthalmology residency at CSU in July 2021, and starting in fall of 2021, she will be an associate veterinarian with practice limited to Ophthalmology at Blue Pearl/Boulder Road Veterinary Specialists in Lafeyette, Colorado. Martabano holds a master’s degree in Ophthalmology and did research on eyelid and corneal squamous cell carcinoma in the horse. Academic interests include small and large animal corneal disease, ophthalmic surgical procedures, and ophthalmic photography. Martabano is passionate about the importance of continuing education in ophthalmology and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with general practitioners. Outside the hospital, her hobbies include skiing in the Colorado mountains in the winter and hiking in the summer with her yellow Labrador.

Participant Cancellation Policy: Course attendees can cancel their registration for an in-person course according to the following schedule:

  • More than 60 days prior: Full refund or 100% Future Transfer Credit (FTC).
  • 30-60 days prior: 50% refund or 100% FTC.
  • Fewer than 30 days prior: 75% FTC only. No cash refunds are permitted within 30 days of the event.
    To ensure fairness and consistency for all attendees, this policy applies universally to all cancellations, including those caused by illness or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Future Transfer Credits can be applied to any course within 365 days of the cancelled course.

Course Cancellation Policy: Course cancellations due to low registration numbers or other unforeseen program circumstances will be announced 35 days or more prior to the course start date. In this event, a full refund of the course registration or a 100% Future Transfer Credit (FTC) will be provided. CSUVetCE is not responsible for, and will not reimburse, any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred by the participant.
